From Us to You and Yours

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – family gatherings, annual traditions, and string lights everywhere. This holiday season, it is important to reflect on how blessed we are to live in the United States. We are in a country without war at home. We are in a country where people have the freedom to pursue, say, write, and believe what they want. A country where anyone can be their own person and do their own thing in their own way. We have the choice to fill the holiday season with joy, rather than fear.

When you are gathered with family and friends in the coming days and weeks, remember that you can disagree with someone while still demonstrating respect and love.

This holiday season, we challenge you to reach out to family members who may have differing political views. Discuss the issues that you have in common and listen to each other when talking about the ones you disagree about. Be respectful of each other and start by looking for at least one thing with which you can agree. Work to bring back comradery one conversation at a time.

The holidays are a time to uplift each other, not tear each other down. Reflect on the things that bind us together, and challenge those you love to pursue big things in the coming year. Together, we can mobilize positivity and call out the attributes that enable all to achieve their American Dream.

Happy Holidays from LEAD!
