Honoring our Fallen Heroes

In many parts of the country, Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer. Graduating seniors celebrate the start of new chapters, families dust off the grill for an annual barbecue, and some enjoy a much-needed day off work. It’s a day where many can take a deep breath and kick off the new season.

These are good things, but over the years, many Americans have lost sight of the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a solemn remembrance of the sacrifices made by countless American men and women who gave their lives in the name of our country – for the sake of preserving life, freedom, and opportunity. Today, we stand in solidarity with the families of the patriots who lost their loved ones in service to the United States of America.

LEAD Founder Mike Rogers is a veteran and comes from a long line of military heroes. LEAD President, Kristi Rogers, also has a lineage of patriots who served in the military. Their strong military backgrounds motivate their passion for public service. He says this:

“While my family and I were fortunate enough to come home, there were too many whose story ended differently. For all those who served, those who were wounded, those who gave their lives, and the families of all our servicewomen and men, today we honor your service and sacrifice. For those currently serving, including my son Jon, I pray for you and your safe return home. Thank you for your bravery, your courage, and your tenacity to serve a cause greater than yourself.”

This Memorial Day, take some time to look inward and reflect on the sacrifices that enable you to pursue your American Dream. We urge you to support those who have fallen in the name of freedom.

No combination of words can capture the amount of gratitude LEAD has for our fallen heroes. May we never forget to honor and remember those who have – and will – lay down their lives for our great country, not only on Memorial Day, but every day.
