Reading to America’s Future

In honor of National Read Across America Day, LEAD Founder Mike Rogers read to classrooms across the nation on Wednesday, March 2. The classrooms varied from kindergarten to high school—allowing LEAD to connect with children of all ages. Rogers was able to not only read a book to the students but also discuss the importance of reading throughout their lives.

“Reading allows for America’s youngest generation to begin the foundation of their own American Dream. It is the most fundamental skill all Americans should have—and it starts in our schools!”

Rogers reminded the students that no matter what their American Dream entails—reading is essential to their futures and the future of our great nation, the United States of America.

The American Dream cannot happen without our nation’s literacy—it drives our communication, our businesses, and our success. Tools like Project Gutenberg, Khan Academy, or Duolingo are all resources parents can use to help enable their children to further their reading skills. Literacy is not just on the nation’s parents—it’s on all of us.
